We have nothing to bring to God. He does not need our money, or talents, or our strength. There is nothing we have that He did not give us in the first place, even the breath in our lungs is His gift to us. So if He alone holds all things of any true value – life, love, hope, eternity – then how do we approach Him? What do we bring?
The only treasure we own, that can never be taken from us, and therefore the only true gift we have to give, is our free will. So when we come to God empty, naked and poor – to pour ourselves at His feet in surrender, to offer all our nothingness to Him – that is how we "Meet the Master". A heart like this He will draw near and clothe with His riches, mend with His love, and fill with His peace. How glorious a thing is it, that the God who has everything, longs to pour His all on the weak and weary and willing.
